Astrology

ASTROLOGICAL CONSULTATION is more than just a ‘reading’; it is an in-depth interpretation of a patient’s birth chart. People have many different associations with astrology; most of us think of it as something you read in a newspaper or a blog telling you what your day will be like based on your Sun Sign (date of birth).

Therapeutic astrologers have the ability to accelerate the uncovering of the meaning of life events. Astrologers also see patterns in patients seeking a more holistic approach to therapy. Patients often seek consultation when they are struggling with a personal difficulty. Such difficulties are generally rooted in intra-psychic conflict, which is inherent in the unconsciousness and symbolized by the astrological chart. Intra-psychic conflict, or the tension between opposing thoughts and feelings (such as love and hate), can manifest as pathogenic beliefs and self-defeating behaviors.

All psychotherapies fall into 2 broad groups: person-centered therapy, or ‘therapy by conversation,’ and symptom-based therapy, or ‘therapy by action.’ Astrology, as an aid to counseling, is person-centered. The basic techniques of counseling (listening, encouraging feelings and reinforcing good suggestions) are compatible with astrology.

It is easy to see why the birth/natal chart is a good aid to counseling: it provides a checklist, is flexible, non-threatening, and helps patients accept the challenging aspects of themselves by “putting it out on the table.”

ASTROLOGICAL CONSULTATIONS include a discussion of a patient’s astrological chart to:

  • Help the patient to recognize strengths and talents and acceptance of oneself
  • Provide insight into life issues and discover the purpose of life
  • Connect to ‘life’ itself
  • Cross into uncharted territory
  • Know about timing-when to/not to take action
  • Discover “what is in the way,” and that life is not just chaos
  • Reveal the multi-layered nature of the human soul, mind, and spirit because self-understanding is needed for growth. This is a gradual process that allows us to learn more about ourselves without becoming confused or overwhelmed.
